decaying growth
a gest is a heroic act (or gesture). a burl is an abnormal outgrowth on a tree.
a girl hopped from tree to tree hanging on branch by her knees. an apple fell to the floor as she bit one to its core. spit out the seeds tumble in dirt she begs and pleads from her heart, spanning wide for it to grow, nothing to hide. her calves grow sore and arms go numb; summer sweat fills each pore. time passes. heat, snow, ashes. salty ice freezes over then melts, blurring the lens to appear closer. magnified to blind by emerald and rind. peels and pits flare— of rubies and reds — like a sunspot’s glare. exposing her whole chest of everything; a gest she can drop from beams whenever she want— in her dreams: she swings to the sky and says goodbye to her apples bore taking nothing other than given yet wishing for more. she dangles; a little girl dreams closest to burl.
writing this made me think of how time is expressed; reptiles shed their skin or trees grow a ring. sometimes, i feel like i’m regressing or having to start again, but my dreams are ever so complex.
